Cocktails!

We braved the chilly wind to get some Elixir last night. The Rancho Ancho and Bank Exchange Punch did us up right. Then we walked on down the line to Beretta for some delicious pizza, salad and bonet chocolate gelato. Mmmmm...

Slow Food Walk

We visited Slow Food Nation with the fam, and had some sustainable eats. There was a big garden in the middle of it all and we couldn't help wondering how many bums might call it home, but it was sure pretty! Then it was on to the Mission for some window-shopping! Good times :)

we could pretend it all the time...

Outside Lands Day 3: off the hook! By the third day of the festival, we're sore from all the dancing. It's been a workout. But that doesn't stop us from getting down to The Mighty Underdogs at 1 o'clock! Follow that up with some Culver City Dub Collective and we're really in the groove again. After that, Toots & the Maytals made the pressure drop with 54-46...that's their number y'all! We got to hear one song by Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, but then we were off to hear The Cool Kids at the Panhandle stage. The best beats and rhymes of the whole festival! They were a lot of fun. Then it was back to The Avenues for Little Brother, some mo hip hop for us. They were pimp! After them, Rodrigo y Gabriela started playing on the big stage...some crazy guitar followed. Unheard of...we never knew how cool Stairway to Heaven could sound. Wow. After being awed by those 2, we were back to The Avenues for Los Amigos Invisibles for some funky Spanish music...lotsa fun to dance to. After that we got a big cookie and an ice cream to settle in for Jack Johnson. He was the perfect ending to a perfect festival. Mellow, chill, relaxing. Dancing any more and we probably would have fallen over. Outside Lands we miss you!

happy to be here...happy to be alive!

Outside Lands Day 2: Exciting, Exhausting, Excellent! We arrived Saturday around 12:30, got some lunch and headed to the Sutro stage to see Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet. Some nice banjo pluckin' tunes are a great way to start the day! Then we wandered over to see Rupa & The April Fishes, where a couple of dervishes were whirling through the crowd. The Coup was callin us, so we headed over to the big meadow for our favorite mutiny. Right after that show, Galactic's Crescent City Soul Krewe started in with some funk. We stuck around for about half the show, then it was off to Lupe Fiasco...which was a fiasco. Way too much bass and it sounded just awful...the only disappointing show of the whole festival, but at least we weren't expecting much from him. Cafe Tacvba was next...the guy in the white hat. People were really into him and there was good energy all around. By 6 Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals were on, back in the big meadow. So, we got something good to eat and settled in for some tunes. After Ben, Cake was up at the Sutro Stage, so that's where we went. Cake was awesome!!! So much fun, such good music, oh la la! They played the songs we all love to hear! Then they gave a tree to the lucky audience member who guessed it was a Live Oak. After Cake, it was time for the grand finale...Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers! Scream, scream, scream! Tom Petty is the man! He played a sweet show, then left, then the crowd cheered for him to come back and of course they did. And then it was on! The encore was the best part of the show...about 7 of his best songs to dance like crazy to! Break Down, American Girl, Running Down a Dream...the stuff festivals are made for! We loved it! Then we dragged our tired, weary bodies to the car to get back home and in to bed, so we could do it all again the next day!

for a minute there...we lost ourselves

Ouside Lands Day 1: Amazing! We arrived a little after 5 on Friday to a foggy Golden Gate Park. Steel Pulse was pumping their sweet reggae over the whole place as we got in line for some refreshing cocktails. Then we were treated to the interesting sounds of Manu Chao - fun, but when it was time for Beck we high-tailed it outta there. It was like a herd of cattle trampling over to the Sutro stage to see Beck. People were jumping fences and just generally acting wild. Beck was sweet, but when it was time for Lyrics Born, we high-tailed it outta there too! Now, Lyrics Born was where it was at. We could actually get close to the stage and even see him. Plus, he played our favorite songs - Differences and I like it, I love it. After Lyrics Born we made our way to the Lands End stage for Radiohead. Night was setting in and the light from the stage cast a cool glow over the Polo Fields. A light mist was sprinkling over everyone. It was in this setting that we heard the coolest live show ever. Thom Yorke sang better in person than could even be imagined and Radiohead played some of the best songs in their repertoire. It was like a dream. Aaaahhh. Now we're off for Day 2! Wooohooo!
